In Store Pharmacy Audits: Overview
     A comprehensive In Store Audit Program conducted by PharmDUR, Inc. would provide a valuable tool to a company marketing team in the following ways:
 
  • An Independent Arms Length audit of the complete Network would create a Sentinel effect.

  • The Independent Audit Program can be marketed as a Quality Control Product.

  • Hard Dollar recoveries are returned to the Client.

  • The audits conducted could be used as a store specific assessment tool.

  • Identified Potential Fraud and Abuse by Providers and/or Recipients could be benchmarked and used for marketing.

  • A value added feature of all Pharm/DUR Audit Programs is the identification of cracks in the adjudication platform and the resultant seamless integration of program changes.

  •      Pharm/DUR currently utilizes the services of fifty-two auditors in our various regions of business. We also employ three additional full-time staff that is available to audit should any unforeseen issues arise such as illnesses or conflict of interest with a particular auditor. Pharm/DUR employs the services of thirty Registered Pharmacists as auditors, while the other twenty-two are Certified Pharmacy Technicians (CPT) with a minimum of three years retail experience. We require:
     
  • Registered Pharmacist with a minimum of 2 years retail pharmacy experience or

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician with a minimum of 3 years retail experience or

  • Registered Pharmacist 3 years Long Term Care Experience or

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician with 4 years Long Term Care Experience

  • All licenses and certificates must be in good standing and current

  • All auditors must have reasonable computer skills and comfort with ever changing technology

  • All auditors must have a professional appearance and be non-confrontational at all times

  • All auditors must have exceptional presentation and communication skills

  • Auditors who live in geographical areas where the audits are to be conducted are preferred.

  •   The number of auditable pharmacies is dependent upon a number of factors:
     
  • Claims Data and Look Back Period

  • Plan Rules and Regulations

  • Interpretation of State and Plan standards of Pharmacy Practice

  • Audit Discrepancy Guidelines

  • Purpose and Focus of the Audits

  • AudiTrack  Identification

  •   Many of our clients prefer that we audit all pharmacies with a claims volume over a predetermined number. Experience has shown this process creates a Sentinel effect on the Network.
